Worthless Survey (and waste of taxpayer money) of the Week: According to a well-publicized study by the Centers for Disease Control, 58% of all high school senior say they’ve texted or responded to e-mail “while driving” during the past month. Unfortunately, “while driving” for the purposes of this survey included while the car was stopped at a red light or otherwise stopped — and no distinction was made between teenagers who were driving (as people generally define the word) and teenagers who were at a full and prolonged stop. Was this simply a stunningly incompetent survey, or was the CDC trying to attract attention by contriving to report a misleadingly high number?
