This one wins our “Misleading Headline of the Week” Award, and the article goes on to say “Convicted multi-millionaire John Goodman was sentenced to 16 years in prison for a DUI manslaughter Friday — but instead of living in a small cell with prison food and inmates, Goodman will be released to live in luxury.”
Okay, well, Goodman is out on bond while his conviction is being appealed. While it’s true that rich people with good lawyers are more likely than poor people with bad lawyers to get released on bond, being released on bond isn’t uncommon. And if his conviction is upheld, he will serve his sentence behind bars.
He is not being allowed to serve his sentence at his mansion, as the headline, most of the article, and the accompanying video all suggest.

When I first read the misleading headline, I thought the man had somehow caused a DUI death in the comfort of his own home.
Some of those mansions have big driveways…
Maybe he combined his car and his garage like the guy in the State Farm Insurance commercial.
Entirely possible. Any house with an attached garage has that potential. Just get drunk and back in, running over the family member/housemate who was in the garage.
Well, this was brought to you by the same network that gives you Nancy Grace, so accuracy and legal understanding don’t seem to be their strong suits.
I didn’t get into any trouble when I threw the panhandler out the window of my car a quarter.
