Wednesday, the Central Bucks School District ruled that Philadelphia teacher Natalie Munroe, suspended earlier this year for writing several blog posts complaining about her students (with comments such as “My students are out of control. They are rude, disengaged, lazy whiners”) has the right to keep her job. The parents of dozens of incoming 11th graders have already informed her school’s principal that they don’t want their children in Ms. Munroe’s class.
Ms. Munroe didn’t mention any children by name, and in fact didn’t reveal her own name or school either. She did, however, identify herself as “Natalie M,” and attached a photo of herself to the blog posts.
Now seriously… as attempts to conceal your identity go, this has to be the all-time worst. Though I agree she had the right to blog (even if having the right to do something doesn’t mean it’s a particularly wise thing to do), if she’s claiming she was remaining anonymous so her students wouldn’t know they were being discussed and insulted… I’m sorry, but either she’s quite stupid or she hopes everybody else is.
