The Boiled Bunny Award: Oral Surgery Category

I hate to blame the victim, really I do… but when you dump your girlfriend, a dentist, for another woman, and then make an appointment with her a few days later for oral surgery…

Okay, maybe you have no reason to expect that she’s going to remove all your teeth while you’re unconscious, but still…

(Adding insult to injury: his new girlfriend left him, because she didn’t want to be with a toothless man)

“Mackowiak is currently being investigated for medical malpractice.”

    Gee, ya think?

I’m not saying it was wise of him, but that was evil. It’s the equivalent of taking someone who dumped you and beating them until they’ll have serious scars for the rest of their life. She shouldn’t be up on medical malpractice; she should have to face assault and battery charges.

Further research has proven that this story was fabricated, see the Urban Legends website: http://www.snopes.com/media/notnews/dentist.asp

A pretty good hoax, I’d say, based on how many media sources reported it as fact. I read the story in two places, so I can’t kick myself too hard for reporting it as fact.

Here’s an interesting article about previous hoaxes.

Just for the record, I’m hanging onto the concept of the Boiled Bunny Award, even if the fictitious Polish dentist is ineligible.
