I recently came across one of the sillier interviews I’ve done for CJA… -Bill
I’d interviewed some shady characters in the past – but never somebody willing to travel thousands of miles just for the sake of committing crimes.
Then I came across Rich Smith, a journalism student from the Cornwall region of southwestern England who, with his best mate and sidekick Bateman, came to the United States armed with a list of our more stupid laws.

I actually bought this book after reading this interview. I hope you’ll take it as a compliment that I didn’t find the book as interesting or funny as your interview about it, though it wasn’t bad.
I bought the book, too! Good interview, Bill!
I remember when I lived in Glendale, CA, that there was a law prohibiting driving sheep across Brand Blvd. (a major street) between 4 and 5 pm. It wasn’t an entirely non-sensical law since there used to be sheep farms there.
Ta hell with them fellas,…wanna laugh, and then marvel at a guy’s wit and sponteneity,..read, ” I only roast the ones I love ” by Jeffrey Ross
Hey, a couple of guys went out to do what I dream of every time I read a book of crazy laws.
They’re never completely insane, Keera. There’s always a reason at some point, it’s usually just no longer valid.
My favorite “dumb law” that I actually like is: In Blythe, CA, you are not permitted to wear cowboy boots unless you already own at least two cows.
